Tour of Bristol
Bristol was England's busiest west coast port for hundreds of
years. The tidal river Avon twists through the beautiful Avon
Gorge finally reaching the city centre. Before Bristol Corn
Exchange was built merchants used to conduct business in the
street. Transactions where carried out on four flat-topped
bronze pillars, called the Nails. The bronze pillars still stand in
Corn Street today (below).
