You can buy your Domain Names directly from Bristol Link. The Domain will be registered in your personal or business name depending on your circumstances.

Is there any Domain Name Transfer Fees?

.UK transfers are free. All other transfers (.com, .net, .eu, .biz, etc) incur a small administration / transfer fee.

How do I Transfer my Domain Name to Bristol Link?

You can transfer your Domain Name to Bristol Link by changing the IPS Tag. In this event your current relationship with your Internet Service Provider (ISP) will cease and all future admin and billing will be through Bristol Link. If you choose this method, make sure the Admin Contact for your domain name is a ware you are transferring your domain name to another ISP, so they can authorise the transfer.

Please note, top-level domains i.e. .com, .org, .net, etc, can take up to 9 days to transfer. However, the process usually takes 3 to 4 days. To transfer a .uk domain name it takes about 1 to 2 hours, once the IPS Tag has been changed.

To transfer your Domain Name follow this two step process:

1. Request an IPS Tag from Bristol Link
2. Send the new IPS Tag to your current Internet Service Provider. Request they change the Domains current Tag to the new Tag to enable the Domain Name Transfer.

What and Where are the Domain Name Servers?

The Domain Name Servers (DNS) host your Domain Name and provide a reference point for Internet browsers that request your web site. To use our service you must point your Domain Name at:

Primary Name Server: NS1.LIVEDNS.CO.UK
Secondary Name Server: NS2.LIVEDNS.CO.UK

How do I change the Domain Name Servers through a Third Party service?

The method of changing the Domain Name Servers (DNS) will vary. However, essentially the approach will be similar:

1. Login to your Account / Control Panel
2. Click on 'Configure Domain'
3. Select the domain you wish to forward / point
4. Click on 'Modify Name Servers'
5. Type in the Primary & Secondary Name Servers

Primary Name Server: NS1.LIVEDNS.CO.UK
Secondary Name Server: NS2.LIVEDNS.CO.UK

6. Click 'Next' or 'Ok'
7. That's it.

How do I modify my Domain Names A and MX Records?

Modifying your domain names A and MX Records requires advanced knowledge and should only be carried out by your web hosting provider.

This functionality is only available if your domain name is managed by Bristol Link. If your domain name is managed by another web hosting provider you're welcome to transfer your domain name to Bristol Link.

Can you host Multiple Sub Domains?

Yes - We can create any number of Sub Domains. Sub Domains are useful if your business has more than one department. For instance, if you owned the domain www.bristol-link.co.uk you might create a Sub Domain called:

//sales.bristol-link.co.uk or //customers.bristol-link.co.uk.

Email addresses can also be created to reflect each Sub Domain:

your-name@sales.bristol-link.co.uk

Sub Domains are not supported on hosting accounts which have the Microsoft FrontPage Extensions installed.

Sub Domain is an optional extra service.
