Avon Valley Country Park

Avon Valley Country Park is located 4 Ĺ miles from the centres of both Bristol and Bath in the Avon Valley off the A4 near Keynsham along Pixash Lane. The park is open from spring to autumn from 10am-6pm, Mondays to Sundays, except bank holidays, (during childrenís school holidays the park is open every day). There are concessions for senior citizens and under 2ís go free.

The park itself is designed as a riverside trail with well marked numbered signs with information about the many different animals, birds and plants. Along the nature trail there are fields of friendly and unusual animals including Shire Horses, Shetland Ponies, Fallow Deer and Donkeys, Llama and Wallabies, many breeds of Goat, Sheep and Cattle, several varieties of duck and wildfowl. Some of the animals are rare and exotic breeds and there is a compound with Vietnamese pot-bellied pigs. There are also pens with different kinds of Chickens, Turkeys and Geese and a special area containing the latest new-born baby additions to the park. There is a petís corner with guinea pigs, rabbits, goats chickens and a pony.

Small rowing boats are available free on the boating lake and there are also river boat trips. There are 20 good coarse fishing places along the 3/4 of a mile river park where you can catch carp, roach, perch, tench and eels.

There is a large outdoor adventure playground with aerial runways, chain walkways, bouncy castle, ball pond and a huge drop slide. When the weather is inclement there is an undercover soft play area for the younger children, a large indoor play barn, and an assault course for the older children. Avon Valley Country Park runs the largest miniature railway in the West of England with rides available for children and adults. There is also a land train around the park that leaves the station every 30 minutes which is also suitable for the disabled. There are mini quad bikes for children age 5 and upwards and mini golf. Falconry displays are arranged for weekends and school holidays.

Season tickets are available. School Trips can be arranged with special information packs. Birthday Parties can be arranged, and train rides etc. Corporate and Fun Days, Sports Day, It's a Knockout, Team Building are also available. The BBQ can be booked and the marquee can be reserved for you to supply your own food. There is a 10% group discount on a party of 20 or more. There is a cafe, picnic areas and also a gift shop. Dogs are not allowed.
